Aiga (Notes on Becoming) was inspired by a performance in NYC about grief. The central figure is a statue-like woman in a bikini, balancing on one leg and sticking out her tongue. Around her, other figures seem to be shaping or supporting her, and it’s unclear whether she’s the statue or the maker. The tongue is playful but intense , it’s about pushing out difficult feelings, grief, or pain. She’s both a creation and a reflection of the artist’s state of mind, repeated in different works as a way to explore emotions that are hard to face. This figure embodies strength, vulnerability, and the courage it takes to confront what we feel.
